Steelers at Falcons 12/4

Image
The Steelers and Falcons both come into this game with records that will most likely mean the won't make the playoffs.  The Steelers were 4-7 and the Falcons were 5-7.  The Steelers were slightly favored being -2.5 while the Falcons were getting 2.5 points.  All eyes were on the quarterbacks in this matchup as they have both faced scrutiny because of their performances earlier in the season. (Hank Zao, AP Images) The first quarter didn't have very much action in it as both teams had their defenses hold off the opposing offenses.  The only scoring of the quarter came from a 46 yard Matthew Wright field goal that was the result of a 16 play 47 yard drive.  The second quarter had much more action even though field goals still outnumbered the amount of touchdowns scored.  The Steelers started out the quarter with another long drive that ended up stalling out and they settled for another 46 yard field goal after a 12 play 58 yard drive.  The following possession, the Falcons were f

Bills at Patriots TNF 12/1

The Bills came into this divisional game 8-3 and were looking for their first win in their division this season.  The Patriots came into this game 6-5 and were looking to keep in good standing for the playoffs.  The Bills were favored by 4 points and the Patriots were getting 4 points respectively.  (Bill Sanders, Getty Images) The first quarter started out flat for the Bills as they were able to compile a 9 play 37 yard drive that settled for a field goal from Tyler Bass .  When the Patriots got the ball back they went straight to work compiling a methodical drive that went for 75 yards and was capped off by a 48 yard touchdown pass from Mac Jones to Marcus Jones.  At the end of the first quarter, the score was 7-3 Patriots. The second quarter had the bills awaken as they were able to keep the Patriots off the score board while compiling good offensive drives.  The Bills kicked off the second quarter with a 82 yard drive that ended with a 8 yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen to Stef

Eagles at Texans Week 9 TNF

Image
Week 9 of the NFL season kicked off with the Texans playing the Eagles.  Coincidentally, this game was being played at the same time that World Series game 5 between the Astros and Phillies was being played in Houston.  The Eagles came into this game red hot at they were undefeated boasting a record of 7-0.  The Texans came into this game on the opposite end of the spectrum being 1-5-1.  Due to their contrasting records, the Eagles were favored by -14.5 points and their Moneyline was only paying 1.1x your money.  (ESPN, Sam Smith) The Texans started out strong running the ball well on their first drive which went for a total of 75 yards and was capped off by a two yard touchdown pass from Davis Mills to rookie tight end Teagan Quitoriano .  This was the first time that the Texans were able to score any points on their opening drive all year.  But the red hot Eagles were able to respond on their opening drive gashing the Eagles on the ground and the air capping off the 18 play drive wi

Ravens at Buccaneers TNF Week 8 Recap

Image
The Ravens came into this game with a record of 4-3 compared to the Bucs that had a record of 3-4.  The Bucs were favored by 2 points while the Ravens were getting 2 points.  Both teams came into this matchup with significant injuries, the Bucs secondary was extremely banged up and they were missing a majority of their starting cornerbacks.  The Ravens came into the game with there d-line weakened as Calais Campbell was out for the game.  (Dane Arakulus, AS USA) No one was quite sure how this game would turn out as indicated by the low spread because the Ravens have blown 4th quarter leads recently and despite having 3 losses they have only trailed for a minute and 27 seconds the whole season.  The Bucs have also had their problems this season, a flurry of injuries on the offensive line have caused the Bucs to be ranked dead last in rushing yards per game in the NFL.  This combined with poor receiver play and a distracted Tom Brady has the teams offense playing extremely poorly.  (B

Raiders at Chiefs Week 5 MNF Recap

Image
One of the better prime time games of the year took place this past Monday night when the Raiders took on Chiefs at GEHA Field.  The Chiefs went into the game as the clear favorites as they were favored by seven points and the Raiders were getting seven points.  The Raiders came into the game 1-3 as they have struggled to use their weapons on offense effectively and they have been shown to have a vulnerable defense. Meanwhile, the Chiefs came rolling into the game 3-1 and they looked like the Chiefs from years past even though they lost one of their best offensive weapons in Tyreek Hill in the offseason.  The Chiefs were able to show that their offense can adapt without Hill and they can still be just as successful when using superstar tight end Travis Kelce who scored 4 touchdowns this game.  (Jay Biggerstaff, USA Today Sports) The Raiders were able to get off to a fast start at the beginning of the game when they scored the first touchdown.  With the ball near mid field the Raiders

Patriots at Steelers Recap

Image
This past Sunday the New England Patriots took on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.  The Patriots were favored -3 points before kickoff and the Steelers were getting 3 points respectively.  The game itself was essentially a coin flip on who would win it do to glaring issues that both teams had.   (Don Wright, Associated Press) The Steelers had more injuries on their roster as several key players had injuries that affected their performance or kept them out of the game such as current reigning Defense Player of the Year LB TJ Watt. Both teams had very questionable coaching that was evident in the first game of the season.  The Patriots struggled offensively against the Dolphins in week 1 and this shinned a light on the fact that Bill Belichick decided not to have an offensive coordinator officially announced.  The Steelers also had their struggles on offense week 1 and the loss to the Patriots only further put their offensive coordinator Matt Canada in the hot seat as player

The Sports Fixation Blog

Welcome to my first blog post.  In this blog I will be going over new and events that surround the sports world.  The reason that I chose to do my blog on sports is because it is one of my many passions and I like to be very well researched and knowledgable in the subject.  Specifically in sports, my favorite subject to cover is the NFL.  That is why a majority of the posts on my blog are going to be NFL related.  I will also be covering major sporting events as they happen throughout the year on this blog.  (Joe Nicholson- USA TODAY Sports) On top of various sports teams, my blog will also have other sports related elements in it.  I will also be covering the advancement of technology in sports and how that affects both the sport and the players of the sport.  Trends in sports are always evolving and it is important to stay on top of them in order to fully understand the sport, this is another important element that I'm going to incorporate in my blog.  One such trend currently g
